Import addresses from Netscape in OS 9 to the Address Book in OS X.2 (Jaguar)

1) Start up your Mac.

2) If you are using a new Mac, and have access to your old data, proceed to step 3. If you are upgrading to OS X then go to step 20

3) Locate your OLD OS 9 or OS 8 system folder and double click it - it will NOT have a picture of a 9 on it.

4) Locate the preferences folder and double click it.

5) Locate the Netscape Users folder and drag it to the desktop.

6) Close all windows.

7) Double click your hard drive icon on the desktop.

8) Locate the new OS 9 System Folder, which will have a picture of a 9 on it. Double click it.

9) Locate the preferences folder.

10) Drag the Netscape Users folder on the desktop onto the Preferences folder you just located.

11) If the Mac asks if you want to replace the files, select yes. This will ERASE any current OS 9 netscape settings.

12) Close all winodws.

13) Locate your old version of Netscape and double click it OR use the Netscape located in the Applications (OS 9) folder.

14) After Netscape starts up, go to the Communicator Menu and select Address Book.

15) After the address book window opens, go to the File Menu and select Export Address Book File

16) Type in a name. In the Pop-Up menu at the top of the window, click it and select Macintosh HD, or whatever the name of your drive is

17) Go to the File Menu and select Quit.

18) Close any open windows.

19) Click the address book icon in the dock.

20) If it asks if you want to import, yes, and you want to import from Netscape. Otherwise, go to the File Menu and select Import->LDIF

21) The following window wants you to locate the file. Scroll all the way to the left, click once on your hard drive

22) In the window on the right, locate the document you exported in step 16. You are done.
